In this workshop, we will honor our small inner-child selves as we reach into the depths of a painted background the bring forth a childlike paper doll.  We will nurture them with creativity and place them in a surrounding of love and joy, held inside a shadowbox frame.

It is spooky season, and local artist Sarah Rutledge Fischer invites you to her studio to find the creepy crawly creatures and mischievous monsters that hide behind the lines and shapes of the painted page

It is wintertime, and though we may not be blanketed in snow, it is the perfect season for the naughty gnomes come in from their work in the garden and share a little mischief.  Join me in my studio to dive into a painted page and find the naughty gnomes, sneaky santas, and eager elves hiding in plain sight. 

Most of us have a mean voice in our heads that shows up when we take a creative risk or try something new. Many of us have spent years shouting back, trying to make it go away.   In this workshop, we will try a different approach–looking at these small but powerful parts with compassionate curiosity.    While we explore visual representation of our critic through various exercises, we will honor the origins of its work and consider how we can engage with it moving forward.
